human robot
The advancement in science and technology has exploded in the 21st century. The invention and development of computers, smart phones, tablets, ipads, electronic games, the internet, have made life convenient. Communication, transaction and interaction become easier; tasks are performed with little effort. This breakthrough in science and technology has led to more new inventions one of such is the design of "Humanoids".

Humanoids is a robot with its body shape built to resemble that of a human body. Humanoid Robotics include a rich diversity of projects where perception, processing and actions are embodied in a recognizably anthropomorphic form in order to emulate some subset of the physical cognitive and social dimension of the human body and experience.
Science fiction films such as Terminator, AI, Cyborg  among others, inspired the need to design a human-like machine capable of performing human tasks. In general humanoid robots have a torso, a head, two arms, two legs, eyes and mouth. In our society today especially in the manufacturing industries humanoids are employed to work in high risk areas. Some humanoids are designed for entertainment. For instance URSULA a female robot sings, plays music, dances and speaks to her audience at Universal Studios. Several Disney attractions employ the use of animations robots that look more and speak much like human beings. Examples of some Humanoids employed in our society today are;

TOPIO: A humanoid robot that plays ping pong in Tokyo.
NAO: A soccer playing humanoid.
ENON: A personal assistant humanoid. It can carry things and speaks.
GERMINOID: A female humanoid capable of conversing, laughing and singing (Hong Kong)

In my opinion, humanoids are not adequate replacement for human beings in societal services, they are not and never will be. The design of humanoid is not an attempt to recreate humans. The goal is not nor should it ever be to make machines that can be mistaken for or used interchangeably with real human beings. Rather the goal is to create a new kind of tool fundamentally different from any we have ever seen because it is designed to work with humans as well as for them.

The design of a perfect humanoid is still far from reach as it is difficult almost impossible to replicate humans. The usefulness of humanoids cannot be denied however they are not replacement for human beings.
